I stand ready to do this immediately as it seems straight forward; problem is I
have no experience with FreeBSD leaving me somewhat clueless. I have read
references to switching consoles.

I would be grateful to any related man page, wiki or other reference to focus
my efforts to better grasps the FreeBSD file system framework including
permissions as I consistently was denied write access even though the directory
displayed user root already had it.

The above references along with recommended log systems for analysis will be my
start. I knowthe set command works for env (if not mistaking but it's not
necessarily persistent). As I understand /boot/defaults/load.conf or load.rc
is required for persistence.

One other noteworthy point is the ACPI on/off toggle is missing among the boot
options. I don't know if this fact carries any distinguishing characteristics
for troubleshooting diagnostics.
