Actually, it should -- there is the second package 

Package (0x0D)

complete with the separate _BIF and _BST methods and the parameter to
the C1AC method denoting battery number.                        

But this is likely the check for the presence of the second battery:

ShiftLeft (0x01, Arg0, Local7)
C1A9 (0x01)
If (LEqual (C1AA (Local7), 0x0F))
{
  Return (0xFFFFFFFD)
}

Still curious, though.
