Following some extremely helpful advice from Tobias Roth, I've moved
from RELEASE to STABLE, and I'm happy to say that the laptop is so much
better behaved with suspend/resume logic.
One anomaly: /etc/rc.suspend is still not running. This turns out to be
harmless in my particular case. However, I've verified first hand that
Mitsuru IWASAKI's patch will take care of this.

Anyway, thanks again for the fast and responsive feedback, folks. This
is getting much more stable and useful, now.
Cheers,
Bob
