A question that I have asked myself quite a lot, recently.

I could not find a PR for this port - there were some minor
issues, that took a few minutes to fix and test (with both
openssl from ports and base).

Yes, thanks for the reminder that repology provides that
kind of information. Seems that nmap/ncrack on Github is now
the best site to fetch it from.

And look again: security/ncrack is there ... ;-) (... again)
