(apologies in advance for what's an obvious, "it'd nice if someone..")

I know it's extra work (I replied to scottl in private about my
reservations about this decision (to avoid extra chatter)), but if
one of re@ could find it in his heart and schedule, it would be
doing everyone a big service to support us shipping a stripped
debug kernel.
