I cannot reproduce this here.

  gdb> run -a
  Indexer[60952]: indexer from mnogosearch-3.1.20/UdmDB started with '/usr/local/etc/mnogosearch/indexer.conf
  Indexer[60952]: [1] Done (314 seconds)

  Program exited normally
  gdb>

Could you provide the following?

  .. your nsswitch.conf, if any
  .. any +, - entries in passwd(5) or group(5)
  .. if at all possible, a backtrace with debug symbols
