|
| It's just about that most ports names are all lowercase (and this is
| perfectly fine) and seeing capital letter is somewhat annoying.
De gustibus non disputandum est.

| I was also under impression that this name was chosen by original
submitter,
| not particularly you.
If you put it this way, the name has been chosen by the original
software developer(s). Refer to http://www.omegat.org/ .

|
| If you search the archives for "Can we please please please stop adding
| ports ..." phrase you'll find that I've send it in the past for a number
| of occasions, and usually people had agreed.
Good for you.

|
| Also, I'm not sure how many ports have *last* letter or their name
| capital, but I can't recall any of top off my head. To me, it looks
| kinda ugly.

|
| Yes, to tell you the truth, I'm periodically thinking about this.
| However, I'm not sure how to handle it the best way. Also, when port
| had just been added, it's far simpler to rename it as there's no
| repocopy required, since there's no history to preserve.
I would say the best way to do it is not to do it at all. Or should be
all start complaining about things we do not like or seem ugly to us?

|
|> P.S. you're really starting to tease me.
|
| I'm sorry you feel this way. To elaborate: I'm periodically picking
| some interesting commits (e.g., a port a care about, or description
| catches my eye, or something else) and take a look at actual diffs.
| I've noticed that last couple of my comments were addressed at your
| work, and I felt a bit embarrassed about it. Please don't be offended.
| FWIW, I didn't get any reply from you, so I'm not sure what did you
| think about the issues I pointed out. Bottom line: I'm not picking
| deliberately on you (or anyone else).
I have read your mails and I have taken your points into consideration.
Some of those were right, while some others didn't make any sense to me.
Anyway, I have not ignored those.
However, I didn't feel the need to reply, until today. If you'll keep an
eye on my future commits (no doubt you will), you'll see that a few
points from your mails will be included.

|
| I've been told already, that despite how polite one tries to sound,
| people don't really care for reviews unless there's something utterly
| wrong with particular commit. Obviously, style nits do not fall in this
| category. Thus far, I think I can just stop pointing out anything to
| people, leaving tinderbox' do their job, unless I know they care for
| style and aesthetics. Let's just all have fun we're trying to here.
Document your supposed "style nits" and "aesthetics" as guidelines in
the porter's handbook and then feel free to point those out.

To repeat myself, should we all start to complain about things that we
do not particularly like from a style/aesthetic point of view?

I guess we better leave people a certain degree of freedom and
self-initiative. We all have more important things to carry about.

Moreover, a "sorry, my mistake. Portnames are actually allowed to
contain uppercase letters, as the handbook says" kind of response would
have been more "polite".

|
| To a certain degree, this is sad, but true.
Agreed.

I am not about to discuss personal likes/dislikes anymore.
