Quoting submitter of a PR:
Please move it from the 'graphics' categry to the 'science' category,
which is more appropriate.
End of quote. Submitter is one of authors of the software, so I assumed
he knows best. What category do you think it should be in? It sounds
like a file format for storing scientific data to me.
