Quite likely you will be seeing a similar thing with ports-cur, because a 
huge commit is on it's way there as well, viz the upgrade to xorg-7.2.

(And also, sorry for top-posting - I am on quite a few mailing lists where 
top-posting is OK, and I forgot when I replied to this one.  But having 
started with the top-posting, and since the reply was also a top post, I 
wanted to stay with it.)
