Hi,

It is still SCSI. SCANNER devices have a set of exclusive opcodes apart from
the common set of commands.

The SCSI spec accomodates variety of devices. For example, DA devices,
Optical devices, Write-once devices etc... All of these devices share some
set of basic commands in common. Apart from the common commands, each one of
them have a set of commands which are specific to the device type. One such
common command is INQUIRY. Each device will report what type of device it
is, through this command.
On seeing the device-type, the initiator will decide what type of commands
to send through.
I think the FreeBSD stack emulates either a PROCESSOR device OR a DA device.
So I guess, you wont
see any SCANNER related SCSI traffic at all. For more details, try reading
SCSI specs. They are available from www.t10.org.
