I don't know what the solution to your problem is, but to get the version
of aic7xxx currently loaded, do:

	cat /proc/scsi/aic7xxx/0|less

Mine shows the driver version and a lot of other info, e.g.:

Adaptec AIC7xxx driver version: 5.1.28/3.2.4

Don't trust the above as reliable settings.  My Adaptec 2940U2W isn't
working either (isn't communicating correctly to the CDRW).

Oh, yeah.  **Do not** try to edit this file or anything else in the /proc
directory or below unless you're such the expert you don't need to ask
questions on this list.
