Hi
I am in need of your help.
On my new server (Serverworks motherboard)
I have an Adaptec 29160N Ultra 160 SCSI controller
and a Sony AIT-1 tape driver attached to it.
My system is Linux (kernel 2.4.18-rc2 with
linux-aic7xxx-6.2.5-2.4.17.patch)
The Sony tape drive is detected and I can do
mt status without problems.
now
dd if=something of=/dev/st0
gives
st0: Error with sense data: Info fld=0x0, Current st09:00: sense key
Aborted Command
then dd says it's writing 2 (of 3) blocks
and notifies me about an I/O error.
trying a 'tar' onto that tape
the system hangs,
the 'busy' LED on the tape driver is blinking.
I can only 'recover' if I turn power off at the tape
drive.
I get
Unexpected bus free in Data-out phase
SEQADDR == 0x1ad
which is probably due to the power off
but then I get
st0: Error 70000 (sugg. bt 0x0, driver bt 0x0, host bt 0x7)
st0: Error 10000 (sugg. bt 0x0, driver bt 0x0, host bt 0x1)
st0: Error on write filemark
st0: Error 10000 (sugg. bt 0x0, driver bt 0x0, host bt 0x1)
Is that
- a hardware failure with this (brand new) Sony AIC drive.
- a problem with the Adaptec 29160N SCSI controller card
- a problem with aic7xxx driver
- a Linux kernel problem
I very much appreciate your help.
