Yes, sorry to be a fool... I didn't see the wood for the trees ;-(

I've now got your v6.1.10 running on kernel 2.2.19, and a first test show=
ed
that the problem persists.  Some differences however.

Tagged command queuing now seems to be enabled by default.  I took the de=
fault
in the kernel build (253) and halfway through a badblocks -ws I got:

kernel: (scsi0:A:0:0): Locking max tag count at 63

As I understand it, that's OK?

badblocks got through the first write operation but then fell over with a=
n Oops
during the subsequent read.  So not much change there!

As per your previous offer, I'd like to know what I might do next?
