Adaptec 7896

Hello
I have an Intel L440GX+ board with 2 SCSI channels. I am installing Linux 6.1 and when it tries loading the aic7xxx driver I get the following error
<4> SCSI host 0 abort (pid 0) timed out - resetting
<4> SCSI bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0.
<4> SCSI host 0 channel 0 reset (pid 0) timed out - trying harder

This has prevented me from completing the installation. Is there a workaround or driver for the AIC-7896
