Yesterday, I did some further tests with aic7xxx-5.1.21, linux-2.2.14 an
with 5.1.22 (Doug Ledford´s latest patch applied to linux-2.2.14).

After starting the Adaptec-SCSISelecet utility, I configured the
termination of "Narrow Connector" as "enabled" (which is set up as
"auto" per default). After then my Adaptec 2940UW Pro is working fine,
even with "aic7xxx-5.1.20" (linux-2.2.13), "aic7xxx-5.1.21"
(linux-2.2.14) and "aic7xxx-5.1.22" (linux-2.2.14 + the latest patch)!

So I think it is quite easy to solve the problem: You only should set
your "Narrow Connector" termination as "enabled" if there aren´t not any
external SCSI devices connected. The setting "Auto" seems to be
problematic when using a driver that is newer than "aic7xxx-5.1.19".

The termination of "wide connector" is still configured as "auto"
without causing any problems.

Yes, this behaviour is still present - but I think it is rather
harmless...

Bye,
Steffen
