Hello,
after upgrading my dual Pentium II 450 system from kernel 2.0.35 (SuSE
Linux 5.3, aic7xxx version 5.0.19) to kernel 2.0.36 (RedHat 5.2,
aic7xxx version 5.1.7) --in fact, it was a complete re-installation--,
I experience some serious problems addressing one of the SCSI devices.
As can be seen from the output of /proc/scsi/scsi below, the SCSI
chain is composed of three devices : two disks that are correctly
managed and a CD-ROM drive. When trying to access the latter, the
system keeps generating error messages regarding SCSI timeouts, which
totally freezes the system.
I tried to upgrade to aic7xxx 5.1.12 by applying the patch relative to
2.0.36 but this won't work : the application of several patch HUNKS
fails.
Besides, I didn't find any patch series going from 5.1.7 to 5.1.12 nor
any source distribution in tgz form.
Did anybody encounter te same problems, and somehow managed to solve
them ?
I'd be glad to now.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Mark
