Hi all,
I have been having a problem and don't know where else to turn. I am hoping
someone on this list has seen a similar problem.
At one of my jobs we have an HP LC 3 with an embedded AIC-7880 controller.
I am running Red Hat 6 Linux with 2.2.12 kernel (now, I was running 2.2.11
for a couple of weeks). When I bought the machine last summer, it had one
4.2GB hard drive and a DAT DDS3 tape drive. It ran Red Hat 5.2 2.0.36 for
months with no down time. A couple months ago I added a 9.1GB drive. This
is where the problems began. I now get the errors below about once every 3
days, and they usually begin in the middle of the night after I finish
backup. If I shut down the machine and reboot, after fsck all is fine and I
get a couple of more days of use out of it.
Originally we though this was a hardware problem. HP replaced most of the
machine. Still the problems remain. If I remove the 9.1GB drive, the
problems stop. Next I upgraded to a newer distribution with a newer kernel,
and still the problems.
HP Linux support can't give me any help (I'm trying to figure out why we are
paying them).
Anyway, I just dont know what to do to solve this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Stuart
