AHA-2940 + Quantum Atlas II + 2.0.36 = fs errors

Hi,

I'm running a 2.0.36 SMP kernel with 256m ram. I have the Adaptec
AHA-2940 scsi adaptor with a Quantum Atlas II 4.5g scsi disk attatched
to it (running narrow).

If I make a lot of file activity, such as: untaring a file,
compiling a kernel, fsck'ing the disk, I come up with errors. If I fsck
and fix all the errors, then scan 10 minutes later, there will be new
errors... the machines still "works" for a while, until I get a scroll
of ext2 file system errors and then the machine locks up. (the error is
something about free blocks, I don't have the EXACT message in
memory)...

When I reboot (and only after the crash) the scsi card gives me
"BIOS not installed" and does not detect the Quantum. The only way to
get the Quantum detected again is to unplug the scsi cable and replug it

in... and for some reason, this remedies the problem until the next
inevidable crash....

Can someone please help, I need a SCSI disk on this server, and I am not

in the position to purchase a new host adaptor or drive... I need this
to work :) (btw, the drive and adaptor worked when the machine was NT,

so I'm assuming this is driver related)...

Thanks a lot,

        Nick Holland
