I'm no expert, and development code does break.... BUT remember that performance
optimisation almost always means exploiting more hardware features so a more
optimised bit of code is more likley to pull up minor hardware
incompatibilities....

Unfortunately, without reference to particular hardware, workarounds are
normally rather hard...   That said, the developers for this *free* (Open
Source, if you're wearing a suit) software never cease to amase me with the
quality of the software they put out......
