SCSI Timeout with Adaptec 2940UW Rev. E (Bios 1.32)

i wonder what my problem is then ;p 

cause i was getting alot timeouts, and normally i always turn off
disconnect, i've had years of problems with it (since the drive was first
written, and this is linux or freebsd) i added this new drive seagate bar. 
machine was stable before that. I turn ON disconnect for that drive only,
and timeouts have gone away. And i do have two other seagates in there,
same model, and those don't like disconnect. ( also have two ibm 4 gigs,
3 quantum 4 gigs )  OS is linux 1.3.33 standard, i do think i have bios
version 1.25 tho, or maybe thats 3940 uw, i forgot, too many cards.
