If, for some reason, the driver clears SBLKCTL before performing the
initialization, then this is likely the problem.  My guess is that if
you added code to look at SIMODE0 and SIMODE1 when the timeout occurs,
that you'd find the registers 0'd explaining the lack of selection
timeouts.
