I think I have seen the freeze in the previous version in ports which is fixed
in this release

    Fixed a bug that could cause performance issues and freezing with newer
NVIDIA GPUs on FreeBSD.

If it is what I think it is, it happens rarely and was resolved by kill picom
from a different computer.
