WOW. Is there an open Issue for this anywhere?  I have indeed also added copies
of linux-firmware.git to /boot/firmware for wifi and with that also got amdgpu
bin files there.
Why is it not able to load .ko files?  It should go through the same code paths
that wifi and everyone uses...  Definitively needs a dedicated issue to track
this!
