--- Comment #3 from Jason W. Bacon <jwb@freebsd.org> ---
I upgraded the affected machine to 14.2-RELEASE, and not surprisingly, the
binary package (currently built on 14.1) doesn't work. Vt consoles are
basically black screens, with only the top scan line active. X11 seemed to
work, but I did not do extensive testing.

Rebuilding drm-61-kmod from source corrects this.

So once again, it looks like we have a KBI compatibility issue between
consecutive point releases, and the current binary package for drm-61-kmod does
not work on any of our releases.

I'm not pressing this point in order to chastise anyone. I really appreciate
the difficult work people are doing maintaining the DRM and related port.

What I think this situation underscores is the need for automated integration
testing, at least for critical ports like *drm*. Our committers are
well-trained in general, but we all make mistakes, and the stability of FreeBSD
systems should not be predicated on a complete absence of human errors.
