            Bug ID: 286383
Summary: x11/nvidia-driver: Intermittent "xid 16 (Display
engine hung)" failures with new driver version
                    570.124.04

           Version: Latest

                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Some People
          Priority: ---
         Component: Individual Port(s)

After freebsd-update 14.2 -> 14.2-p{1,3} RELEASE and package upgrade I'm
experiencing intermittent failures of the graphics subsystem, first after about
a week, then three times in a single day. Reports in /var/log/messages are
like:

 kernel: NVRM: Xid (PCI:0000:02:00): 16, Head 00000001 Count 00360c2f
kernel: nvidia-modeset: ERROR: GPU:0: Idling display engine timed out: ...

Xid 16 is "Display engine hung", according to Nvidia.

This is with GeForce GTX 1660.

Symptoms are beginning with erratic mouse behaviour out of nowhere, then
deterioration and freeze of the whole system within an hour or so. X11 does not
work any longer and can't be killed, such that reboot seems necessary. I did
not try "nvidia-smi --gpu-reset", though.
