I've not broken it in the project sense. The hardware and firmware is requiring
stuff that is wildly different to the status quo and we don't support as a
general case everywhere.

I'm not supporting it. :-)

However, if someone wants to tackle the underlying issues making this stuff
more bulletproof (like introducing deferred driver attach after filesystems
have mounted, the driver being able to say "let's not attach now, ask me
later", the firmware load paths not panicing if the filesystem isn't loaded)
then that'll address everything.
