Yes, can be a problem.  Is your AP also in the US or in AU?  If the AP
is in AU you want to be in AU too.

sysctl compat.linuxkpi.80211.wlan0

will also give you some idea (it chages dynamically) as to what the
firmware thinks it is doing.

Also main or stable/14?
