Sorry I was not clear.
Whay I meant was: is this patch supposed to work on 14.2 after I 
cherry-pick it (alone).

OK, so it seems answer is no (even if it applies almost cleanly).
I'll wait a few day ands try to merge all the relevant commits from 
14-stable.
