I am observing the same issue ( Authentication with ... timed out ) with my
rtw88 on current from today ( amd64 main-n274134-e02029e6f487 (

Access point is the ASUS RT-AC1200G+ router

ath(4), run(4), rtwn(4), wifibox as well few dozens of various Android based
devices associate with this router without any issues.
I have tried also some Huawei OEM LTE modem with wifi support and some Lenovo
tablet as access points with the same result : all devices associate with
exception of my rtw88
