My issues appear to be with the Intel Wifi adapter. During installation, I am prompted to setup the Wifi card, it does find an iwlwifi0 device and prompts me to choose the regdomain. The first problem is that it suggests the FCC regdomain, which I have to change as I am in Europe, so I follow the dialog boxes and after choosing the regdomain (ETSI GB), it attempts to search for Access Point SSID's and always reports that none are found, clicking "rescan" does not change the situation. If I then click cancel and redo the Wifi card setup steps, it remembers the ETSI GB regdomain from before and so I don't need to change that, it then scans for Access Point SSID's and correctly finds my Access Points. I then choose and access point and enter the PSK to connect to it, shortly after this I encounter the crash (details below for each FreeBSD version that I tested). From reading this issue - https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=263613 the behaviour I am seeing sounds very similar. I wonder if changing the regdomain via the FreeBSD installer causes a similar ifconfig up/down/up pattern? * On 13.1-RELEASE after setting the regdomain and then the PSK, it prompts to configure DHCP4. At this point I start seeing errors appearing behind the installer screen. The installer continues to function, but DHCP configuration fails. Also any subsequent static IP configuration seems to do nothing. See the screenshot http://static.adamretter.org.uk/13.1-release-intel-wifi.jpg * On 13.1-STABLE (20221209) after setting the regdomain and then the PSK, the installer exits to a black screen with some sort of error (shown very briefly), and then the entire system hard reboots. * On 14.0-CURRENT (20221209) after setting the regdomain and then the PSK, the installer exits to a black screen which describes a panic and it drops me into kbd. See the screenshot http://static.adamretter.org.uk/14.0-current-intel-wifi.jpg I would be interested to know if this is the same issue described in - https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=263613 Let me know if I can provide any further info that is not already captured in the hw-probe or the screenshots. Kind regards. Adam. -- Adam Retter skype: adam.retter tweet: adamretter http://www.adamretter.org.uk
