On closer inspection, I believe this IS a duplicate of bug 296663. Claude
provided the same patch for both... and it solved the issue for both. I do not
advocate for using the patch as-is: too many unresolved questions about
provenance and ownership. However, the patch is only 2 lines and clearly
illustrates that a simple check for iGPU vs dGPU is all that's needed to enable
Intel dGPU passthru. I'd be happy to test a human-written patch if a qualified
developer decides to pick this up and solve the issue with code that's
acceptable for inclusion in the FreeBSD base.
