No, we still haven't found a proper solution.

On top of that, for some reason, there's been some strange behavior when
mounting virtual disks if there are more than two of them. When the virtual
machine starts up, disks 2 and 3 are mounted in one order, but when rebooting
from within the virtual machine, they're mounted in a different order.
In other words, the system detects the devices in the wrong order right from
the start during the initial boot. This means that bhyve assigns the virtual
disks in a different order than they are specified in the virtual machine's
configuration.
