Bug ID: 266742
Summary: Elantech touchpad support
Product: Base System
Version: 13.1-STABLE
Hardware: amd64
OS: Any
Status: New
Severity: Affects Many People
Priority: ---
Component: usb
Assignee: usb@FreeBSD.org
Reporter: aurelien.duval6@gmail.com
Elantech touchpad does not work correctly on an amd64 laptop.
On FreeBSD 13.1-RELEASE (unpatched and with patch 2 applied), my touchpad is
detected in Xorg (XFCE 4.16 desktop binary package with lightDM but also
standard Xorg via startx command) as hms0 device and works during 1 to 2
seconds before stopping everytime I switch from tty to graphical desktop.
On FreeBSD 14-CURRENT with GENERIC kernel configuration built from source on
30th September 2022, the touchpad does not respond at all. And is detectedas
ietp0 device.
devmatch command states that the device is unattached despite being shown in
XFCE config screen as an Elantech Touchpad.
I also tried to make it work on NetBSD installed on another device but the
touchpad doesn't work either. OpenBSD was too exotic to me but the problem must
be present too.
I followed every forum topic about this but nothing works.
The issue is not present on an old amd64 laptop with Synaptics touchpad.
Could someone tackle this issue ?
