The recent update to 1.8.0/1.8.1 is not what caused the issue, i've tried
reverting to 1.7.0 (from Apr 2024), and it has the same check with "local:*",
just a different .map file, linking a test executable. And it same fails to
detect the symbol versioning, breaking everything. It definitely worked fine in
2024 - so if "local:* doesn't work for executables in FreeBSD" statement is
correct, it might be it was simply ignored by older LLVM few months ago, while
now it errors out (still unclear why it works in CURRENT - might it be it "did
not work, but was ignored" before, "does not work and raises an error" in
*-STABLE, while fixed/"does work" already in CURRENT?)
