My guess is that is due to the high amount of resources needed to build GCC
with LTO_BOOTSTRAP enabled, see also pkg-help and
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=264949 .

I suggest you to disable LTO_BOOTSTRAP.
