Presumed context for the below: With the mail/envelope symbol selected
at the top left area . . .

Did you get to having a news.gmane.io tab(?) in the next areae to the
right that was empty if you used the > to expand its content? (In
addition to there being Blogs & News Feeds and Local Folders)?

If yes, selecting the News.gmane.io should display the new.gname.io
Acccount Settings in the area to the right. Below the row with:

news.gmane.io [empty spacing] Account Settings

is a row with:

Read messages Manage newsgroup subscriptions Search messages Manage
message filters

(all in one row). That is above a row that says:

Set Up Another Account

If you find that "Manage newsgroup subscriptions", then:

) Select it

) Type "freebsd" into the "Show items that contain" box that is then shown.

) In the list below that was filled in, check off the ones that you are
interested in.

Interpreting the names an be somewhat interesting. An example is the
".scm" names being for things like dev-commits-src-main (main a.k.a.
current) and dev-commits-ports-all .

(Some of the above is testing grabbing and re-editing text in this
environment.)

Side note:

This environment should make it much easier to see omitted text in
replies, text that I want to remember but do not remember in sufficient
detail (even when it is what I wrote) or that I want to copy to avoid
other folks needs to go find it for my reply.
