Correct. The server-side FreeBSD Update bits aren't in place for ALPHA1 and ALPHA2; those are seeded from dvd1.iso and we didn't build that for the first two ALPHAs. (Side note: Historically "ALPHA" has been a weird in-between which counts as a "snapshot" build in some ways and counts as a "release" build in other ways.
