Yes, indeed a typo, and tcsh history repeats itself!
However, I also checked this file at the time.

I solved it by deleting this file and reinstalling the
relevant package.  I'm not sure if sometime in the process
of pkg upgrades I saw a message indicating that I should
delete this .conf file, I may have missed it.
