Nope. I install to an empty image created like this:

# truncate -s 64G vmimage.img

then install to it like this

# vmrun.sh -c 4 -m 32GB -t tap0 -d ./vmimage.img \
-i -I ./FreeBSD-14.2-RELEASE-amd64-disc1.iso testvm
