The booting image uses MBR, but this wasn't selected on install deliberately.
The defaults were used and it defaulted to MBR. but note this was installation
of 13.something (so, a few years ago) *to* a blank disk image.

I used MBR cos that was what the booting image had, so went with that for 
the additional disk. I'll remember to use GPT next time. Thanks for the
info :D
