Here in mid September 2025 and thisbug is going nowhere. With no really
clear place to start at all other than to remove the dependecy for
source-highlight from gdb entirely.

It may be possible to build the upstream gdb code and then determine
what is needed in ports. Need. Not a want. Source highlight sounds like
some RGB flashing lights on a motherboard :

    source-highlight C/C++ and Java sources to HTML converter

Yes .. that is a stupid RGB flashing lights feature for a debugger.

I will try to rip that out.
