Unfortunately, there's been a lot of back and forth lately with libxml2,
including commits, reverts, refactors and de-refactors.
Have a look at https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=291316
Any of the committers involved should be able to answer your question.
