OK, so I managed to figure this out by trial and error. The root ix0 and
ix1 interfaces have mtu of 9000 and this works perfectly, but all the
virtual ixv* interfaces default to mtu of 1500 and I was changing this
to 9000 to match the root interfaces. Turns out this does not work and
setting the mtu back to 1500 on ixv* resolved the issue. Not sure if
this is a driver bug or hardware limitation.
Also iovctl config files should have opening braces on the same line,
otherwise iovctl spits out some nonsense message about failing to open
config file. The parser seems to be a bit primitive.
Below is the correct format which I used to have originally and now
changed back to it.
PF {
device : ix0;
num_vfs: 4;
}
DEFAULT {
allow-set-mac: true;
allow-promisc: true;
}
