Hi Bob -- It appears the XP-7100 supports Internet Printing Protocol (as
well as various proprietary flavors). If I recall correctly, IPP has its
own way to announce printer options, and so PPD files are not needed.

An unsolicited warning: It looks like the Epson XP-7100 only takes
certain ink cartridges. For me, this is much more likely to result in
eventually "paperweighting" an otherwise functional printer than any
software limitation.
