mysql

cd  /var/db/mysql/

less FQDN.err (FQDN = Fully Qualified Domain Name)
That file will tell you why msql is not able to start.

PS: If this is a new machine, then:

rm -rf /var/db/mysql

Then try starting MySQL service again.
Check if the directory is recreated and read the contents of the file with
.err extension.
