Bugzilla Automation <bugzilla@FreeBSD.org> has asked freebsd-python (Nobody)
<python@FreeBSD.org> for maintainer-feedback:
Bug 300365: devel/py-jsonform: Deprecate (fails to import on Python 3, only
consumer proposed for deprecation)
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=300365

--- Description ---
devel/py-jsonform 0.0.2 can't be imported on Python 3.12 (and 3.13):

    $ python3.12 -c 'import jsonform'
ImportError: cannot import name 'JsonForm' from partially initialized
module 'jsonform' (most likely due to a circular import)
(/usr/local/lib/python3.12/site-packages/jsonform/__init__.py)

jsonform/__init__.py:6 uses a Python 2 implicit relative import (`from
jsonform import JsonForm`), which on Python 3 imports the package
itself.

0.0.2 (2015-01-16) is the only release. Upstream
(github.com/RussellLuo/jsonform) fixed this in git on 2024-01-10 but
never made a release.

This proposes deprecating it; I've left EXPIRATION_DATE for you to set.
The patch sets

DEPRECATED= No release since 2015, fails to import on Python 3
BROKEN= a Python 2 implicit relative import causes a circular
import

If you would rather keep the port, the one-line fix for the implicit
relative import in jsonform/__init__.py makes it import, as long as
devel/py-resource is kept as well.

Impact: the only in-tree consumer, devel/py-resource, is proposed for
deprecation in bug 300364. If that is accepted,
nothing in the tree uses this port.
