[Bug 294121] security/py-certbot: Fails to run if devel/py-zope.interface is installed
Date: Thu, 22 Oct 2026 22:23:06 UTC
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=294121 --- Comment #2 from Patrick Crandol <patrick@crandol.com> --- I ran into the same failure while working on bug 292105 (Python 3.13 as the default). It is not certbot itself: devel/py-zope.interface 5.3.0 treats the class attributes that Python 3.13 adds (__firstlineno__, __static_attributes__) and those added in 3.14 (__classdictcell__, __annotate_func__) as concrete attributes, so every interface definition raises InvalidInterface on import. Anything that imports zope.interface, certbot included, fails the same way. Bug 299758 has a patch for the port that backports upstream's list of ignored names; it is tested with Python 3.12 and 3.13, and zope.interface imports with it on 3.14. certbot should work again once it lands. On the age of the port: an update to 8.x is the long-term answer, but 8.x changes the packaging against the tree's other zope.* ports and needs testing against all 197 dependents, so the patch fixes 5.3.0 for now. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
