Bugzilla Automation <bugzilla@FreeBSD.org> has asked freebsd-python (Nobody)
<python@FreeBSD.org> for maintainer-feedback:
Bug 299751: devel/py-coloredlogs: Replace pipes with shlex for Python 3.13
(coloredlogs CLI fails)
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=299751
--- Description ---
On Python 3.13 the coloredlogs console script and its ANSI-to-HTML
converter fail to import:
$ python3.13 -c 'import coloredlogs.converter'
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'pipes'
coloredlogs/converter/__init__.py does `import pipes` for
pipes.quote(), and Python 3.13 removed the pipes module.
coloredlogs.cli imports the converter, so the `coloredlogs` command
fails too. The library API (coloredlogs.install()) is not affected.
The patch uses shlex.quote() instead, which is the same function, and
bumps PORTREVISION.
Misc changes:
- the patches in files/ get a header saying what each one does and its
upstream status (Description, Issue ID, Changeset, TODO)
Impact: 8 ports depend on it, among them iocage; they use
coloredlogs.install(), not the converter, so none of them needs a
change.
Tested: poudriere bulk -C -t on amd64, both with Python 3.12 and with
DEFAULT_VERSIONS+=python=3.13: builds, and all 5 modules import from the
built package.
Upstream: 15.0.1 (2021-06-11) is the latest release, GitHub master
still imports pipes, and the xolox projects are unmaintained.
