PATCHFILES doesn't work because the commit touches files that aren't included
in the distfile.
I do hope you're not going to wait for the next release. Installation of files
into a destdir is affected by files outside that destdir and that shouldn't
happen. This is a real bug affecting many people, not just a performance
issue.
