Hello,

Net/vtun was removed june. 30th due to no upstream maintenance since
2016. I have been thinking about this for a while (probably because I
haven't learned how to set up some kind of ipsec+magic), but now finally
I created a fork, migrated the source code to rust, and I plan on
maintaining it. Not really any big ambitions for the project. Over time
improve the challenge+sesponse authentication to defend against
man-in-the-middle, particulary impersonating the server, which vtun has
never had a protection against. New crypto algorithms at some point. But
at the moment remain backwards compatible with the last release of vtun.

So if there are any interest for a replacement I can also take
maintainership if needed.

The project is at github:

https://github.com/leakingmemory/vtun-ng

I do have port files available in my overlay for my own poudriere build
server if needed.

Regards,
